Gators win!

November 26th, 2005

I’m writing this before the end of the game which is normally a recipe for disaster but with a score like 27-0 for Florida with about 10 minutes left I’m feeling a little confident.

Urban Meyer has coached a great game to top off a slightly disappointing season. The only reason I find the season a disappointment is the fact that the Gators won’t be playing for the state championship. Chris Leak has had a few shaky throws today but overall I would say he should be proud of how he played.

The stars of the game are definitely the Gator defensive line. They’ve held FSU at bay for the majority of plays. With 4 sacs on Weatherford and 2 turnovers, including an interception, stellar would be the only word I could use to describe it.

In regards to the play of the game I’d have to say it was the blocked field goal attempt that led to Lewis scoring a TD. Talk about a play to get your heart rate going.

I guess, just to be a complete jerk, I should thank FSU for the two 3rd down penalties they received. They were definitely costly penalties to say the least.

Next week I’ll have to check out FOX sports or CBS Sportsline to find out the bowl schedule during the holidays.

So, to end off the season Florida went undefeated at home, won all three games against their rivals (Georgia, FSU, and Tennessee) and added another win against FSU in their 50 year rivalry. The Gators are still behind in the overall record against FSU but hopefully this is a trend.

Congrats go to Urban and the entire coaching staff and of course all the players. Well done boys.

UPDATE: The game just ended with a score of 34-7. No shutout but still a great game. Hopefully this well interest the Peach bowl reps choose the Gators for that game.

Sorry I’m late to say this, but congrats to your team of choice and its fans. I have absolutely no favorites when it comes to college. Perhaps I will chose the Gators should I every chose one.
