Improving my vision: Day 19
June 17th, 2006
It’s been about a week since my last status report on the vision experiment — and it’s been a tough one. Over the last 6 or 7 days the quest to improve my eyesight with Vision for Life has almost become more of a mental battle.
While I tediously do the recommended exercises each morning, there are times when I think to myself, mid exercise, that my eyesight is actually deteriorating. This is bad and needs to stop. At this point it’s hard to decide if I should go see an optometrist and take an eye exam just so I have a way to properly gauge my progress. Right now it’s hard to justify the expense — more on this later.
Regardless, I’m going to keep on trucking with this human experiment for at least another 3 or 4 months. People react differently to everything and I may just be one of the slow starters.
See how I see
Once again, I’m going to attempt to show you a visual cue of how I see certain parts of the eye chart that comes as part of the Vision for Life kit. First, a slightly touched up image of how the letters should appear — by slightly touched up I mean that my camera took a very crappy photo and I had to clean up some of the blur.

Now, here is my attempt to show you how I view the same letters — without glasses or contacts — from a little over three feet away.

As I mentioned before, it’s really hard to accurately show you exactly how I see the chart but hopefully this gives you some semblance of the current state of my vision.

I wish it worked out for you, but try not to do more damage.

The thing is, I can still see small improvements. I was just in a bit of a mental funk. It’s all about how differently people react to the exercises and apparently I’m slower than I anticipated, that’s all.

Wow, I’m glad to see you are at least keeping it up. I’ll continue to watch and can’t wait to post a link (maybe your next report?). Thanks.
