I’m moving, again

December 8th, 2007

Yes, it is in fact true, I will be moving again next week. At least this time it will be a short move and not nearly stressful or hectic as previous moves. I’ll be taking leave of my current apartment in San Mateo for the hustle and bustle of San Francisco. Most of the people, whom I now call friends, that I interviewed with before moving out here, kept telling me that the city is where I should be. Consider the past 5 months your “I told you so.”

I finally made the decision to start looking at places back in late August. Unfortunately during that time students were still piling in for the new school year and, it seemed, so was everyone else. While searching through Craigslist I kept seeing the same apartments/lofts being listed over and over again. When I noticed a new listing I would often go to the viewing and see the same people I had seen at the last open house/viewing. That got old, quickly.

After 3 weeks of dealing with this, I decided to stop looking. I kept telling myself, and other people, that I was still looking when in fact I had pretty much stopped. I needed some time away from all the hoopla. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, I finally realized I was doing a lot of talk and no walk.

Getting back to Craigslist was actually much more pleasant this time around. There were new apartments listed, they were in better locations, and I wasn’t crabby. I had created a shortlist of 3 places to look at. The first was a nice loft with a full kitchen, the second a decent space in a more questionable area, and the third I didn’t even get to view — after getting to the apartment I had to call the realtor myself in order to find out it had already been rented.

All this made my decision pretty easy and I applied for the loft that day. The entire process was pretty smooth too, I found out a couple hours later that I was approved and signed the lease that night.

So, for anyone that has my current address and wants my new one, direct message me on Twitter, email me, or send me an instant message.

Enjoy city life! Should make it a bit easier to visit you to when I’m in San Francisco.

Indeed it should. It also means I will have room should you finally bring your wife out with you and you need a place to crash. :)

Thanks Ana! So far everything has gone smoothly. Now I just need to get some furniture so I can actually sit down and put things away. :))
