The Diet: Week 8 weigh in
July 25th, 2006
Another week another weigh in. Time just seems to fly by when it comes to these little status updates for the diet. Of course time may also be flying by because I’ve just started packing and there is only a week left until we have to be out of our house but that’s another story altogether.
Until this week the diet has been going well. This week I thought was going to cause problems with this diet because I was pretty lazy when it came to watching what I was eating. In the last seven days I’ve probably eaten out at least four times. At least half of those four times I was very unconcerned with ordering healthy items off the menu.
Sure, twice a week may not sound like much to most people but I’m the type of person that will drop my guard once and next thing I know it’s happening all the time. Maybe it was the heat that was getting to me — you know, it gets hot, you get lazy, cooking is the last thing you want to be doing in an un-airconditioned house.
Part of the problem over the last week could also have been the fact that there is very little in the way of food in my house. In the next week my roommate and I will be moving. Then she’s going on vacation to visit her parents while I house-sit for her for a couple weeks. After that I’m off to Pennsylvania, so you may understand why neither of us really wants to “stock up†on groceries.
This morning I was pleasantly surprised though. The scales tipped in my favor, for the most part. I’ve still got to get my ass doing exercise, something I’m definitely looking forward to getting into in PA with the boys and girls down there. Anyway, on to this weeks stats:
- Weight: 177.2 lb.
- Belly inches: 36″
- BMI (according to halls.md): 25.4 kg/m2
That’s a total of 1.6 lbs. lost, 0 inches gained or lost and 0.3 kg/m2 of fat lost in the eight week.
Here are the grand totals for the entire diet so far:
- Weight loss: 7.6 lb.
- Inches lost: 2″
- BMI drop (according to halls.md): 1.1 kg/m2
If you want to find out more about what we’re doing — it’s not just for people losing weight, gainers are welcome too — check out the diet page. There you can also find a nice OPML file to check up on all of us dieters (you can also visit our flickr group). Also be sure to check out our sponsor, The Diet Channel.

OMG, MIKE! You put your face on your header! Yayyyyyyy!
Loe it!
Good job!
Congrats on the weight loss!
Moving will definitely screw up your routine.
But I know you will manage!
;-)
Don’t do like me! Now I have to start from scratch!

Thanks Breigh.
Ana: It’s been a while since you’ve been around these parts hasn’t it. The addition of my head — even though my face is barely visible — was prompted by your rant about including pictures in blogs. Of course my hair colour changes periodically but what’s a few colours between friends.

(hehe) Yes it has. *blush* I’m sorry, sometimes I am bad with keeping up with reads.
Don’t hate me k? haha. J/K!
No, I think it’s perfect the way it is.
It’s almost like a little tease.
“Read my blog to get to know me better.” ya know?
*thumbs up!*
Speaking of hair colour. I have to color mine again. The red is fading again. What a bother! LOL

ps. I’m adding you to my blog reads list. That way I won’t forget. Normally I go through my list when I remember. LOL

great job Mike, keep it up! You’re doing fine, life happens and put other things on hold, but you’ll get back on track in Philly!

Yeah!!!
Good job :)
And as someone who studies nutrition. Eating out once in a whole won’t do you any harm :)

Jessica: Yes, surprises are grand — even more so when they’re surprises for you. Thanks for the well wishes.
Rachel: Thanks for stopping by, and the kind words of encouragement. I understand that eating out once in a while doesn’t really affect much it’s more of a mental game I play with myself. If I take the easier route once it becomes very difficult to force myself to take the “right” road after that.
Of course, now that you’ve spilled the beans about studying nutrition I may have to hit you up and tap some of that knowledge (minds out of the gutter kids). ;^)
