The Diet: Week 7 weigh in
July 18th, 2006
This week was a bit of a surprise. I had already prepared myself for disappointment based on what I remember my eating habits having been like this last week. In retrospect, I may have only been focusing on the negatives, which is always a poor way to go.
Since we’re on the topic of negatives, let’s discuss what Mike did this week to warrant a poor outlook on this mornings weigh in. First of all, the big one was ordering a White Chocolate Brownie after diner at Moxie’s last night. Oh boy. I could have stopped after the Clubhouse sandwich and fries — of which I only ate about half of my portion and once again I didn’t order the mayo — and I would have been fine.
Because my roommate and I were out with some relatives of hers desert was definitely on more than one persons mind though, and I’m a sucker for a White Chocolate Brownie. As a sidenote, if you haven’t tried one before you damn well better — and I don’t even care if you’re on the diet or not.
Other factors that worked into the “I shouldn’t have done that†area included half a bag of Twizzlers while watching Superman Returns on Sunday, buttered popcorn while watching some rented movies on Saturday and Wendy’s for supper on Friday.
Positives for the week include a whole lot more walking. After last weeks weigh in I made a conscious effort to walk more. Since that time I’ve actually followed through with it. A couple time last week I walked to a clients office about 20 minutes away. I also decided to walk to the bank instead of driving — that’s a 30 minute trip there and back.
Another positive this past week has been my meals at supper. Instead of gorging myself until I’m full I make a concerted effort to portion out what seems like a proper amount of food and stick to that portion. Since I’m moving I’m reluctant to go on a large food shopping spree so having no snack food such as crackers, chips — either “healthy†or not — and other bits and bites in the house has helped out as well.
And now, this weeks stats:
- Weight: 178.8 lb.
- Belly inches: 36″
- BMI (according to halls.md): 25.7 kg/m2
That’s a total of 1.4 lbs. lost, 0.25 inch gained and 0.2 kg/m2 of fat lost in the seventh week.
Here are the grand totals for the entire diet so far:
- Weight loss: 6 lb.
- Inches lost: 2″
- BMI drop (according to halls.md): 0.8 kg/m2
