The Diet: Week 5 weigh in

July 4th, 2006

Week number five, just trying to stay alive. Well, not really. It’s more like I’m just working on wrapping my skull around the areas I need to improve and actually making the mental — and physical — leap to improve them.

This week was definitely better than last week, mostly because there wasn’t nearly as much eating out. Due to the weekend festivities — July 1st is Canada Day, aka. Canada’s b-day, for those not in the know — we hosted a BBQ with some friends.

Surprisingly it all went quite well for me though. I managed to limit my food intake to two hot dogs and a small portion of macaroni salad. Of course there was a very rich and probably completely unhealthy dessert my roommate cooked up but I couldn’t say no to that.

It felt like I did more walking this week. They were shorter walks but they happened more often which I’m sure probably works out better than one long walk.

Here’s where I’m sitting this week:

  • Weight: 181.0 lb.
  • Belly inches: 35.5″
  • BMI (according to halls.md): 26 kg/m2

That’s a total of 0.2 lb. gained, 0.5 inches lost and 0.1 kg/m2 of fat gained in the fifth week.

Totals since starting

Since starting the diet the grand total is:

  • Weight: 3.8 lb. lost
  • Belly inches: 2.5″ lost
  • BMI (according to halls.md): 0.5 kg/m2 lost

And of course, the links to both the diet and our sponsor, The Diet Channel.

Hey Mike, sounds like you showed some great willpower at the bbq, congrats!! As for the desert, hey everyone deserves a treat sometimes, right? :)

You are losing inches as well, that makes a big difference!

Happy Belated Canada Day Btw :)

Thanks guys and gal. 2.5″ since the beginning is pretty good. When I get to PA I’m sure that number will increase rapidly after some b-ball and v-ball with the boys. ;^)

    AND Girls! Thanks Mike. :(

My apologies E, I didn’t know that you played. I herby amend my previious statement about b-ball and v-ball to include girls as well as boys.

The naked jello wrestling will only be with the girls though. ;^)

Congrats on the inches & weight lost. If you can train yourself to have the willpower not to eat, the weight will eventually come off. Just give yourself time.

Oh, and my one piece of advice is to keep doing what you’re doing: don’t deny yourself something that you really want because it will make you crazy! :)
