The Diet: Week 10 weigh in
August 8th, 2006
It’s that time again ladies and gentlemen, time to wonder in amazement at how I continue to be a lazy bastard and still lose weight. It might have something to do with the methods I’m using, ah, who am I kidding, that’s probably the only reason I’m actually losing weight.
I suppose we’ll start off with the bad news because after the bad news is only slightly better news. Due to the whole moving thing these last couple weeks have made it very difficult for me to maintain my usual level of discipline. For some reason, I really get entrenched in my routines — must have something to do with being a Virgo, at least that’s what I’m told — and when those routines are interrupted all hell breaks loose.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not blaming the move for my lack of self-control, I’m just blaming myself for thinking of this move and transition period as a vacation. It’s not a vacation and I need to exercise more restraint and show some initiative by actually going out and getting groceries — the fridge is pretty much empty because my roommate is gone and nobody likes hauling food from one house to another during a move.
That being said, last night I zipped over to Safeway right after going to see Click — pretty good movie by the way, not the typical Adam Sandler movie and pretty predictable but a good watch nonetheless — and scored some water, which was out and tap water isn’t an option, as well as some various other goodies — apples, sandwich meat, carrots, etc. — to tide me over during the transition part of my move.
As per our thoughts on a little something extra for week ten, here is a comparison of when I started and what I look like now. Sure, I didn’t follow the suggestion to avoid getting naked but I just couldn’t help myself.
Overall I’m actually surprised. I didn’t think there was that much of a change going on but I guess that’s why it’s good to have these progress photos. Obviously I still have work to do — downgrade my keg to a 6 pack — but that will all come in time — with the help of some b-ball and v-ball.
Anyway, on to this weeks stats:
- Weight: 178.0 lb.
- Belly inches: ??”
- BMI (according to halls.md): 25.5 kg/m2
That’s a total of 0.8 lb. gained, 0 inches gained or lost because I can’t find the measuring tape and 0.1 kg/m2 of fat gained in the tenth week.
Here are the grand totals for the entire diet so far:
- Weight loss: 6.8 lb.
- Inches lost: 2″
- BMI drop (according to halls.md): 1.0 kg/m2

Looking good. Good job, routines get messed up sometimes just roll witht he punches, dodge, dip, dive, duck and uh… dodge!
It’s obvious you’ve made progress from the photos, so good on ya!

Spanks man. See, I think my problem was that I forgot the second dodge. That must be where I got thrown for a loop. I got the dodge, dip, dive and duck part but forgot the all-so-important dodge.

Good Job Mike!
I do see changes!
You’re doing good.
I know exactly what you mean.
I think I saw my family coming over to visit on their vacation time as a vacation for me! Although I did workout, I wasn’t eating as healthy.
Now I’m sort of at where I was when they arrived here.
But chin up! We can do this!

Slight slouch on the side view, not unlike your pushing out for your fat pic. No sucking or pushing going on here.
