I think I’m going to pee myself. I’m watching the last minute of play in the Rose Bowl with the Texas Longhorns trying to make one of the most nail-biting comebacks I’ve seen a long time.

Trailing by 24 points in the third quarter, the Longhorns have been maintaining their cool and letting Vince Young do his thing. While the defense has been plagued with injuries — including one broken arm and a number of players out with leg cramps — the Young led offense are definitely showing their determination.

With roughly 20 seconds left, Young walked in the go ahead touchdown. The following 2 point conversion put the Longhorns ahead by 3.

As I write this last bit, USC came extremely close to putting the ball in field goal range but a missed pass has let the clock run out and the Texas Longhorn are the national champions. Great way to close out an undefeated regular season I’d say.

Congrats Longhorns, you deserve it!

Talk about your blowouts

December 3rd, 2005

Wow. What a game. With over 7 minutes left in the 3rd quarter the Texas Longhorns are leading the Colorado Buffalos 70-3.

Here’s something interesting, I watched the remake of The Longest Yard last night — yes, the one with Adam Sandler not the one with Vinnie Jones. In the movie the guards score two touchdowns immediately in the first quarter. The same thing happened with the Longhorns today, they were up 14-0 in the first 4 minutes. That’s were the similarities end though.

The entire game so far has been all Texas. With 3 turnovers, including 2 fumbles and a blocked punt, in their favor and a 67 point lead you can probably safely say the game is over. Bring on the Rose Bowl.

Gators win!

November 26th, 2005

I’m writing this before the end of the game which is normally a recipe for disaster but with a score like 27-0 for Florida with about 10 minutes left I’m feeling a little confident.

Urban Meyer has coached a great game to top off a slightly disappointing season. The only reason I find the season a disappointment is the fact that the Gators won’t be playing for the state championship. Chris Leak has had a few shaky throws today but overall I would say he should be proud of how he played. Read the rest of this entry »

Gators final regular season game

November 19th, 2005

Just wanted to remind anyone that reads these ramblings that it’s the last game of the season for NCAA football. Looks like there is going to be some exciting match-ups but really, this is where the talk turns to the walk. Those teams that are on the cusp of clinching a bowl spot need to pull it all out. There is no holding back. Anyone else have any good clichés we could throw out there?

I’ll be rooting for my boys in Florida while they battle Florida State. Earlier I mentioned I don’t know how the point system works but I would love to be able to watch the team play a bowl game this holiday season.

Game time is 3:30pm ET so set your Tivo, VCR, or alarm clock and lets all do our part to cheer our teams on to victory. Go Gators!

Gators still doing well

November 15th, 2005

With only one game left in the season the boys in the gator bowl are still in pretty good standing. Sitting at 7-3 sounds impressive to me but I’m still a little shaky when it comes to how the bowl games are determined. I know that two sets of records are kept — all games and the division games — but there is still the point system, at least I think there is.

Either way I will be doing everything in my power to sit down and watch the last game of the season against Florida State. This should be a good one. Game time is 3:30pm EST.
