The HD dilemma

I was an early adopter, relatively speaking. Everything was looking good, then I got burned. Big time. Even though I should have known better, I jumped on the HD-DVD bandwagon just a little too soon. Choosing HD-DVD isn’t something I regret, too much, because it was such a great deal at the time — usually being the key to winning these types of battles. Now that all is basically said and done, with Toshiba dropping HD-DVD production, I’m left with a hard choice, what do I do for my HD needs? Read the rest of this entry »

We’re closing in on the time where I’ve been up for 24 hours. This could be considered an achievement in and of itself but I’ve still got half a season to go and I’m not stopping. Let the adventure continue.

Watching 24 season 5 in 24 hours

I’ve decided, with some help from Matto, that I’m going to have my own little 24 marathon.

My goal will be to watch the entire fifth season of 24 in 24 hours. This 24 hour time period includes breaks for food, live blogging the experience, bathroom breaks, and any naps that may occur.

I may be entire out of the loop in this but it seems that there is a new Hollywood production coming to film in our fair city. According to Variety, the feature film Resurrecting the Champ will begin principle shooting here in Calgary starting in June.

What does this mean for the celeb watchers? It means camping outside of houses reported to be occupied by the likes of Josh Hartnett, Rachel Nichols, Kathryn Morris and the venerable Alan Alda. For me it means stalking… er, I mean looking out for the man, Samuel L. Jackson. This summer just got a whole lot more exciting. I wonder if it’s still to late to join the union.

There hasn’t been any news regarding Arrested Development and it’s future on TV for a while but today I was treated to an interesting article on MovieWeb. According to the site, who quotes Variety as its source, show creator Mitch Hurwitz will not be returning to Arrested Development.

This comes as a major blow since the deal for Showtime to take over the reigns depended on Hurwitz’s involvement. Currently Showtime hasn’t made a statement in response to the news. Hurwitz did mention that he is not completely withdrawing from the show as he’d like to give it the best chance possible since most of the offers to continue the show hinge in his involvement.
