iPhone Tip: Viewing Text in a Text Input
July 15th, 2007
Seems that a very large number of things us iPhone owners take for granted isn’t getting enough spotlight but a good portion of what is included in the iPhone isn’t being used because nobody knows about it. So, in order to rectify that, I’m hoping this tip will help out a few more people, because it’s certainly helps me out. What tip is it? Well, how about being able to view the full content of text input areas.
I actually came upon this little tip by accident and it happened when I was noticing a bit of a bug with how the text editing magnifying glass works, which we’ll leave for another discussion. Basically, I was trying to edit the text I had entered in the obscenely small text input area on the mobile Twitter site. Read the rest of this entry »
Yet Another iPhone Typing Tip
July 9th, 2007
So, the latest tip on how to quickly type periods or other punctuation from David Pogue has been making the rounds. It’s a neat little trick and definitely a time saver for a lot of people. To be honest though, I haven’t really used it that much, I’ve discovered a little something that doesn’t seem to be getting a lot of press.
What some people may not realize is that once you’re finished typing your punctuation, when you hit the space bar the keyboard automatically changes back to the “ABC†layout. To me this seems like a faster way of typing, at least for how I use the keyboard. It’s pretty intuative really, way to go Apple.
Of course, for Pogue’s example of typing a P.O. Box address in the U.S.A. his tip will prove to work a lot better than this one. For everyday writing, in notes, emails, or SMS the space bar comes after basically all punctuation so it’s just a matter of preference really.
