It’s been a while since I’ve graced these pages with some new information and I feel bad, especially with all the crap I left you with before my absence. I’ll do my best to get everyone back up to speed and dispel any rumors of my untimely demise — not that there have been any but wouldn’t it be fun if there were :^)

If it’s been a while you may want to give yourself a little refresher course on what’s been going on in my world. First, I’ve started dieting with Colin, Eliza, James, Chris and a huge list of others — feel free to follow my journey. Secondly, I started my move this month and managed to have an interesting experience with my bank. There was also the issue of my pet snake getting lost and found.

A lost friend returns

August 12th, 2006

Warning, this is a long one.

What started off as a pretty normal Saturday morning quickly escalated into a flurry of activity when, while watching the Ze Frank podcast, I received an interesting phone call. The call came in on my cell phone and when I looked at the number it wasn’t immediately recognizable. It was local but as with most cell phones, the caller ID doesn’t include a name unless it’s in your phonebook.

Out of curiosity, how often have you been told that someone’s first impression of you was wrong? Raise your hand. It doesn’t matter if it’s that person telling you or someone else but how often have you been told that someone, based on first impressions — lets say anywhere from 20 minutes to one night worth of time with that person — has been completely wrong. It also doesn’t have to be everything about you they had wrong but at least one major thing. So, how many people still have their hands in the air?

The reason I’m asking is two-fold, part one is just to find out how often this sort of thing happens — to which I’d guess all the time and most likely to everyone but it’s always fun reassuring one’s self — and the second part is to find out what you did about the situation.

The Diet: Week 10 weigh in

August 8th, 2006

It’s that time again ladies and gentlemen, time to wonder in amazement at how I continue to be a lazy bastard and still lose weight. It might have something to do with the methods I’m using, ah, who am I kidding, that’s probably the only reason I’m actually losing weight.

I suppose we’ll start off with the bad news because after the bad news is only slightly better news. Due to the whole moving thing these last couple weeks have made it very difficult for me to maintain my usual level of discipline. For some reason, I really get entrenched in my routines — must have something to do with being a Virgo, at least that’s what I’m told — and when those routines are interrupted all hell breaks loose. Just thought I’d post a quick follow up to my last post and let you all — or as I like to say y’all — know how things are going with the bank. As you may recall, when checking my balance online I noticed that $1,114.30 was missing withdrawn from my bank account on August 1st. This was a grand kick in the nuts for me as that money was earmarked for my vacation/move.

I asked a bank rep to put a trace on the transaction for me at a cost of $5. She did mention that if the problem was due to an error by the bank they would not charge me the $5, which doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. What’s $5 compared to $1,000+? I’d happily pay 0.004% of the total amount lost in order to get it back. Besides, it just means that’s one less drink at the bar or one less trip to Wendy’s.
