Gators final regular season game

November 19th, 2005

Just wanted to remind anyone that reads these ramblings that it’s the last game of the season for NCAA football. Looks like there is going to be some exciting match-ups but really, this is where the talk turns to the walk. Those teams that are on the cusp of clinching a bowl spot need to pull it all out. There is no holding back. Anyone else have any good clichés we could throw out there?

I’ll be rooting for my boys in Florida while they battle Florida State. Earlier I mentioned I don’t know how the point system works but I would love to be able to watch the team play a bowl game this holiday season.

Game time is 3:30pm ET so set your Tivo, VCR, or alarm clock and lets all do our part to cheer our teams on to victory. Go Gators!

Foo Fighters concert was amazing

November 17th, 2005

Yeah, so this post is only 3 months late but the concert was freakin’ amazing. The Constantines opened for Sloan and both were questionable at best to me. I was there to see my boys rock out.

By the grace of some unknown power I managed to get club seats at the Pengrowth Saddledome, row 9 section 119. I’ll tell you that those were the best seats I’ve had to a concert yet and I loved every second of the sets that FF played. The encore was especially amazing since Dave hopped on the drums and Taylor sang. Definitely made my night to hear Grohl bang the drums.

Check out this Flickr set for my pics of the night.

LOST fever

November 16th, 2005

It’s Wednesday night and it’s 9:58pm, almost time for LOST. I don’t really know what it is — maybe the hype, maybe the story, maybe the fact that Colin keeps talking about it all the time and totally psyching me up for it — but I’m totally into this show right now.

Uh oh, guess I’m taking too long writing this because that cutie Michelle Rodriguez is gracing my screen, giving me the first glances into the life of the ones from the tail section.

Also posted on TheÜberGeeks.net, sorry for the cross post but I’m really passionate about this one.

I really wish FOX would pull it’s head out of it’s ass, seriously. Whoop-ty shit, so what if the reality shows are still doing well. Gee, I wonder why that is? I suppose it might have something to do with the fact that the marketing budget for those stupid reality shows is somewhere around the billion dollar mark and the budget for Arrested Development is less than I make a year — and believe me that figure is not very high.

It’s mind boggling how a show that wins award after award after award gets cancelled when a show like Stacked is kept on the air (correct me if I’m wrong but I haven’t heard of this show being cancelled yet). I guess it’s just the power of the chest that keeps that show afloat. Damn Pamela Anderson and her fake body parts!

Of course we are talking about the same network that cancelled Family Guy twice before they realized it had an audience. On the positive side, from everything I’ve read it seems that AD fans are a passionate bunch of people — I know I am. The show has been brought back from the brink before so maybe this is a sign, then again maybe not.

You know what else might help? If FOX would quit pre-empting AD for no real reason. First, it’s pushed back because of baseball. Fine, a lot of people watch baseball, especially during the playoffs. But the first day that Arrested Development is back on the air we are told that it will be off the air until after sweeps and the next episode will be on December 5th. Are you kidding me? Talk about stacking the deck against the show.

There are some good places to find information on how you can do your part to keep AD on the air. One suggestion was to ask all Nielson households you know to watch the show on December 5th. I’ll be doing my part there since I’m a Nielson household. What will you be doing to keep this fantastic show on the air? Why not buy season one or season two on DVD? That would show them.

Gators still doing well

November 15th, 2005

With only one game left in the season the boys in the gator bowl are still in pretty good standing. Sitting at 7-3 sounds impressive to me but I’m still a little shaky when it comes to how the bowl games are determined. I know that two sets of records are kept — all games and the division games — but there is still the point system, at least I think there is.

Either way I will be doing everything in my power to sit down and watch the last game of the season against Florida State. This should be a good one. Game time is 3:30pm EST.
